While my kids love eating dried fruit, I am not all too crazy about it given the amount of preservatives and sugar in your standard store brand. Hence, we don't buy it often, resorting to the REAL DEAL most times. Of course, with fresh fruit, we run the risk of not eating it before it goes bad : (.
I had the opportunity to sample Justus Foods/Today's Farm Freeze Dried Fruit Snacks that the company sent me recently and I was pleasantly surprised! Justus Foods/Today's Farm has been around since April 2006 and all they manufacture is Freeze Dried Fruit. They are what I call "specialists" in their food area.
Freeze Dried Fruit is not to be confused with what you mostly see on the grocery store shelf of dried fruit. Unlike traditional dried fruit that is exposed to heat during the drying process, freeze drying exposes fruit to super cold air that zaps all the moisture out but leaves all the vitamins and minerals in (I got this from the brochure they sent me).
When I opened the box of goodies that Justus Foods/Today's Farm sent me, my children wasted NO time in ripping open a bag (or two or three...) to try out this snack. I even ripped open a bag for myself. We tasted each other's different flavors and wasted no time in inhaling the fresh, natural goodness of these snacks. My children wanted to continue their eating frenzy, but I stopped them- I wanted to save the rest for myself!
