This is not a post about Valentine's Day.
Rather, it is a wish list of sorts. For me. For my kitchen.
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. There is the meal preparation, the cooking, the cleaning, the putting away of groceries, the loading and unloading of the dishwasher, the eyeballing of leftovers.
The kitchen is where everyone congregates- my children, my husband, our friends, our family. I sign school papers, read the newspaper, hang up school artwork, organize papers and mail and more artwork. Birthday parties, Thanksgiving Day dinner, Christmas Eve dinner, anniversary dinners, playdates....they all occur here.
I also spend quite a bit of time there browsing the six food magazine subscriptions I receive, looking for recipes that catch my eye, thinking about how I would tweak them, how would it look photographed, how they might taste.
I consider myself the average cook. I know how to do all the basics. I like trying new things. I'm not scared of my kitchen. I enjoy adding ingredients to recipes and making them taste the way I want them to taste.
I daydream about being able to cook with all the latest and greatest kitchen gadgets, adding to my appliance mix, dreaming of ways to make my kitchen more user-friendly to my needs and to our family's needs.
I wish I had more time though to truly learn more about cooking, though....to be able to experiment (and have someone else clean it up- HA!), to become an expert in this field of choice.
For now, though, I have three young children who need me as well and the kitchen dreams will be "tabled" (I'm so funny, aren't I?). Oh well, there is always next year!
When Lisa isn't busy caring for her three young children, she can be found at her personal blog Growing Up Mo' or journaling about her weight loss journey at The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.
